Renovations have started :)

Hi Everyone :),

I have had an incredible day, can not wait to tell you!!  We have been wanting to renovate for quite some time and for the past 18 months it has been a merry go round between Architect, builders and council (for submitting plans). Everything the Architect draws up the builders don't like, and everything the builders want the Architect to draw up is not financially achievable and then structurally impossible.  We have had about 8 plans drawn up todate and it has been extremely expensive...

We have put everything through council and just keep spending money on plans and ideas.. Those Architects sure are expensive and we still do not have final plans from this architect! We have spent thousands of dollars and just can't afford to keep paying for something that isn't going anywhere.

So we have decided to ditch the architect and builders and go with another builder.  He is a Gold Licence Builder and has a very long waiting list, but well worth waiting for.  (or so we hope anyway lol)

This morning our new builder came, we discussed starting strategies, looking at plans and discussed priorities for hours thinking that we will commence early next week….I had spoken to him late last week and he said that he is ready to start the job early this week but will come and see us to discuss everything first…..

… so after our discussions….shock …...without any delay he went out to his truck and came back with a sledge hammer and tools.  Before we knew it he started ripping out walls and 1/2 of my kitchen and is back tomorrow at 6am (yikes)

Greg is usually overseas during the week however this week he happens to be home.. and well I couldn't believe it but his roster has actually placed him on time off for a whole week  at home..  isn't God wonderful the way his timing works out :)  I am pinching myself that this is finally happening..

With plasterers, plumbers, and chippies in our house tomorrow and a big rubbish skip outside our house in the morning I have a feeling that the excitement will wear off pretty quickly.  Feels like "The Block"  he he :) {smile from ear to ear}

Probably for the next few months we will be living a little makeshift style, as it is quite a big renovation however I'm thrilled that we are starting with a new kitchen.  Lucky I have already bought the new oven and cooktop .. At least the kitchen people will have exact measurements to work off.

As happy as I am that finally we have commenced our renos I am totally stunned that it happened today.  So much to move and clean up.. gyprock plaster dust is absolutely everywhere, my wall oven has been disconnected and my overhead kitchen cabinets are gone, my fridge surrounds… all gone too, ceilings and walls removed … just like that and tomorrow my kitchen sink and benches and floor tiles will go as well.  The window you see in the photo behind the kitchen sink (to the left) will be opened up into big doors so we have better water views.

We are replacing with stacker doors, they are concertina style doors which will bring the outside in and the inside will feel like it continues out onto our deck (verandah).  The kitchen will be moved back  into a new posi :)

I have been told that I am getting a makeshift kitchen tomorrow as the rest of the kitchen will be gone.. then it's up to me to get in touch with a cabinet maker and get the new kitchen made. Have to say I feel very lucky that our neighbour supplies marble tops for kitchens, he has already put me in touch with the best cabinet maker he knows.   I think 2 weeks without a kitchen will be hard, but I am so excited all the same.

Tomorrow all the floor tiles are coming up and the plumbing fittings will be moved.. we have plasterers arriving to install new walls for our kitchen.

Next week our outside wall is coming down... I  will share more photos :) .. {every now and again} I still want to show you my cards but don't want to bore you to tears with the renovations lol..  (I'm sure I'll get sick of them as time goes by, but for the moment I am the happiest girl on earth :) and can't wipe the smile off my face.

Hope you enjoyed my ramblings.. just am soooo happy that this is happening in our lives.

More creations with Snow Swirled

Hello Everyone :)  Today I am showing you the last two cards in the Snow Swirled Christmas Set I have made.  I love how they have turned out :)

When you stamp an image in red ink so beautifully and it turns out this crisp and sharp without smudges or uneven colour  it goes to show what great quality Stampin' Up! inks and rubber stamps really are!   If you only buy a few stamp sets here or there, you simply can't go past Stampin' Up! quality - click on the images for larger a view.

I have stamped the snow swirled christmas tree and cut it out around the edges then mounted it onto a triangular piece of cherry cobbler card for a really lovely 3 D effect.

I really love Cherry Cobbler and think it has to be the best red that Stampin' Up! have ever released.  I did use a retired punch which Stampin' Up! do not make anymore, it's called a slit punch and only punches out half a circle.  It  is so fun to use because, once you have punched a row of half circles you just fold the cardstock along the solid edge and slide a piece of contrasting card behind to create this dramatic effect.  Clever hugh {smile}

If you would like to order a christmas stamp set through me I will design some cards expecially for you so as to give you some inspiration on using your chosen new stamps.

Note:  some items on the retirement list have already sold out !  Don't leave it too late to order if there is anything you are still deciding on. I have posted the sold out items below.
